Paul Oyen, SE

Associate Principal

A multi-generational family tradition may have played into Paul Oyen’s journey to structural engineering, but it was not his initial choice. Paul did make his way to engineering from architecture as he realized his passion for the quantitative aspects of the built environment. While in school, he developed an excitement through cooperative education experiences in Cincinnati and New York and structural labs where he could push the boundaries of design and materials.

Paul brings his passion for learning, mentoring, and design excellence to JAMA, focusing first and foremost on guiding teams to deliver efficient, safe, and durable designs. His portfolio spans educational, healthcare, and public buildings across California, seismic strengthening projects in New Zealand and South America, and seismic safety analyses of industrial facilities. With a strong commitment to continuous learning, Paul values collaboration and mentorship while staying updated on technological advancements.

Beyond engineering, Paul is a passionate cat dad, ice hockey player, musician, and performer, frequently showcasing his improv comedy skills around Los Angeles.
