Diane Duvand, SE
Associate Principal
Diane Duvand brings a unique perspective to her projects and clients. Originally educated as an architect, Diane began her professional career in architecture. She pursued a secondary degree in engineering, ultimately focusing her talents on structural design full time. Over her 25+ year tenure with JAMA, she has developed a particular expertise in healthcare seismic retrofit and renovation projects, working on several hospital campuses retrofitting buildings to SPC-4D compliance standards. Combining her architectural background with her technical expertise, Diane brings a calm, calculating approach to these complex projects where the work is often phased to allow the hospitals to remain operational during construction. She applies that same approach with her work on other campuses such as the Natural History Museum Renovation and Expansion project.
Inside as well as outside the office, Diane is a thoughtful, methodical participant. She is a member of the Structural Engineering Association of Southern California’s (SEAOSC) Women in Structural Engineering, and the WiSE committee, participating in the Mentor Program. She is also an accomplished musician, playing violin with the San Fernando Valley Symphony Orchestra.
