It’s not often stated, but JAMA maintains a sizable amount of work outside the LA area. Recently we were pleased to be a part of two winning teams at San Diego State University. Pfeiffer Partners was chosen from a group of 16 invited architects for a Strategic Plan and Project Phasing Study for the University’s Main Library, and the design/build team of JCJ Architecture/Hunt Construction was selected for the new SDSU Basketball Practice Facility.
The LAPD Metropolitan Division Facility project was awarded a 2012 Cultural Affairs Commission Award in the Unbuilt Category as part of the annual AIA Los Angeles awards event in October. JAMA is proud to be working with Perkins + Will on this exciting project in downtown LA.
JAMA is excited to be teamed with the Los Angeles office of RTKL on Canstruction. This design/build competition invites teams of architects, engineers and designers to create structures made entirely from canned food with all proceeds benefitting the LA Regional Food Bank. Our team is formulating the design for this year’s entry which will be constructed in a 10’x10’x8’ space for public display in January.
The Phoenix Biomedical Campus’s Health Sciences Education Building opened this Fall in downtown Phoenix. The facility, which is a joint venture between the University of Arizona and Northern Arizona University, houses UA’s colleges of medicine, public health and pharmacy and NAU’s College of Health and Human Services. Designed by CO Architects, it houses three lecture halls, classrooms, anatomy labs, clinical exam rooms, physical therapy rooms and a 13,700-square-foot library and offers a new, interdisciplinary approach to health sciences education and research.
