Design Engineer – Tucson

We are seeking motivated Design Engineers with 1.5+ years of experience to join our team in the Tucson Office. The position is uniquely tailored for designers who are transitioning to a more independent role, doing calculations including structural analysis and design, and assembling working drawings with the support of others, including Project Engineers, Project Managers, and the BIM team. The ideal candidate understands the fundamentals of engineering principles and has the ability to apply code and use technical judgment on engineering assignments with increased complexity. This individual is working toward professional licensure and working more independently, with guidance and mentoring from senior staff. Minimum requirements:
- BS in Civil or Architectural/Structural Engineering; MS a plus. EIT completed. Transcripts and references will be requested.
- 1.5+ years of experience in structural analysis and design and working towards PE licensure.
- History of success in an entry-level position and capable of demonstrating analysis and design skills using concrete, steel, masonry, and wood.
- Resourceful and proven communication skills a must.
- Able to work independently and in a group setting. Willingness to be mentored by others.
- Experience with small to mid-sized buildings including new construction, renovations, and seismic upgrades a plus.
- Demonstrate ability to detail for load path and a solid understanding of gravity and lateral system framing.
- Proficient with industry software such as ETABS, SAFE, RAM, and RISA. Others a plus.
- Proficient with IBC, CBC, ASCE 7, ACI-318, and AISC-341. Knowledge of ASCE-41 a plus.
- Knowledge of NDS. Mass Timber is a plus.
