We’re proud to mark the arrival of the first cross-laminated timber (CLT) panels at the Santa Barbara Police Station!

This project features a hybrid structural system, combining a steel frame with CLT floors. The integration of SidePlate bolted moment frame connections allows for enhanced seismic performance, speed of erection, and reduced field welding—key advantages for a project of this scale and importance.

Seeing the CLT panels set in place really brings the design to life. Beyond their structural role, the panels contribute warmth and visual appeal, reinforcing the project’s commitment to both performance and community presence.
