We are excited to announce the next chapter in the
long-standing partnership between John A. Martin & Associates and Martin, White & Griffis — two firms with a shared legacy, aligned values, and a common vision for engineering excellence. After more than 50 years of close collaboration, our two affiliated firms — with offices in California and Arizona — are uniting as one firm to better serve our clients.
John A. Martin & Associates and Martin, White & Griffis share a deep-rooted history. Both firms were founded on Jack and Trailer Martin’s vision of technically sound, design-forward engineering with uncompromising integrity. In 1973, Martin, White & Griffis became the first affiliate office of John A. Martin & Associates, a partnership that formed organically through a close personal and professional bond with Martin, White & Griffis’ founder, Randon “Randy” Holben.

“Randy was an exceptional engineer — loyal, talented, and a pleasure to work with, so the partnership made perfect sense” recalls Trailer Martin.”Now after 50 years of successful collaboration, formalizing this partnership allows us to extend the vision of John A. Martin & Associates and strengthen it for the next generation, while serving our clients with even greater reach, depth, and care.’
Tom Griffis, SE, President of Martin, White & Griffis, recalls the strength of this connection over the years as well, citing John A. Martin & Associates’ oversight on the Palomar Hospital Expansion and Renovation project in Escondido, CA (1984) as one of many successful collaborations.
“Our collaboration has spanned decades, and formalizing this relationship only deepens our commitment to deliver exceptional value to our clients and communities;’ said Tom. “It’s a natural evolution that positions us for greater impact, together.’

Similarly, Kurt Clandening, SE, President of John A. Martin & Associates, remembers some of his earliest projects being joint efforts with Martin, White & Griffis, and has since completed more than ten projects alongside the firm as a trusted partner.
“We’ve always shared more than just a name-we’ve shared a philosophy of service, creativity, and technical rigor,” said Kurt. “This coming together of the two firms allows us to honor that shared legacy while growing stronger and more agile for the future:’
