The University of Southern California Bloom Football Performance Center had a big milestone last month, the Structural Steel Phase One Completion topping out ceremony!
This innovative structure features steel beams supported by steel columns, concrete shear walls, and glulam timber columns. Notably, the integration of a concrete deck and steel beam floor framing with glulam columns will be a groundbreaking first for this type of hybrid application. The glulam columns will be showcased in the double-height weight room and the full-height central atrium!
The project team includes architect HNTB, general contractor Clark Construction Group, structural steel subcontractor Schuff Steel, and mass timber subcontractor Western Wood Structures Inc. This milestone reflects the team’s continued progress toward delivering a world-class performance center for USC athletics.
