JAMA recently visited Western Wood Structures Inc. in Tualatin, Oregon to see the fabrication of glulam columns for the University of Southern California Football Performance Center.

The impressive 24″ square by 33-foot-tall columns are constructed from glulam lumber connected with wood screws and adhesive. Once installed, the columns will support steel beams and concrete-filled metal decking in the weight room and central atrium of the Type IV-B building.

This project showcases JAMA’s commitment to sustainable structural design and our SE2050 goals. The three-story, 180,000 square foot Football Performance Center will serve as the new home for Trojan football, housing football operations, player development, and athlete recruitment spaces.
