Building Information Modeling

John A. Martin & Associates (JAMA) has over 12 years of experience utilizing building information modeling (BIM) technology, including Revit, Bentley, and Catia systems.

Building information modeling has brought project design and construction into the 21st century, allowing for better integration of architectural and structural design through 3-D building design. Using BIM, JAMA designs projects more accurately, helping to reduce coordination problems, which can occur in multiple unrelated 2-D drawings.

BIM models can be used for coordination of the drawings as well as visualization of the structure.

The structural BIM model also provides a record of all of the structural components, including the quantities, used in the construction.

JAMA uses Revit Structure and Bentley Structure to produce full 3-D virtual models of buildings and other structures. Drawings, including plans, elevations, details, and perspectives, are produced and extracted directly from the model. Coordination with other disciplines is improved through the use of these models and through automated clash detection. The 3-D model also allows the direct communication with model data to structural engineering design software packages. Accuracy and productivity are improved because all aspects of the structural system are managed in a single file.

JAMA has the ability to provide 3-D structural models for coordination to the design teams as well as 2-D AutoCAD files that can be used by the design and construction teams for coordination.

JAMA is committed to being at the forefront of BIM technology because we understand the benefits it brings to our clients on each project. JAMA utilizes AutoCAD combined with BIM software to deliver products that are of the highest quality.
