Universal CityWalk is a three-block entertainment and retail district located adjacent to Universal Studios Hollywood, just north of Downtown Los Angeles. The destination serves as an entrance plaza from the parking lots to the theme parks and Gibson Amphitheater, and features casual dining, retail shopping, night clubs, an open-air concert venue, cinemas and specialty experiences. JAMA’s work at Universal has been extensive, and has included engineering for numerous rides and attractions like King Kong, Despicable Me, Earthquake: The Big One. The firm also provided comprehensive structural engineering services for the rebuild of the New York Street Backlot. Burned as a result of a 3-alarm fire in 2008, the four-acre area with 13 city blocks of buildings, includes all of the landmarks of New York City.
