Las Vegas Courthouse
Las Vegas, Nevada
Size: 456,000 square feet
Construction Cost: $99,000,000

The Las Vegas Courthouse, officially named the Lloyd D. George U.S. Courthouse of Las Vegas, was a facility designed as part of the General Service Administration’s Design Excellence program by Mehrdad Yazdani while at Dworsky Associates.  Located in downtown Las Vegas, the eight-story facility serves as an important civic landmark, both physically and politically. The building’s L-shaped form creates a large open public plaza and its location on the southeast portion of the site allows the facility to fully embrace downtown and serve as a gateway to this important local area. The plaza is shadowed from the desert sun by a trellis-canopy cantilevered from the roof, stabilized by a single 175’ column.
