Kaiser Anaheim Central Plant

Kaiser Anaheim Central Plant
Anaheim, California
Size: 31,000 square feet
Construction Cost: $43,000,000

As part of a large-scale expansion of their Orange County health service network, Kaiser Permanente constructed a holistic campus in a three-phase effort; an initial medical office building, a second office building and central utility plant, and the main hospital. John A. Martin & Associates participated in all three efforts, which had a final opening in September of 2012. In order to optimize the overall site the Central Utility Plant was constructed as a three story reinforced masonry/concrete with steel-framed floors and roof structure. The vertical orientation of the structure meant that special methods had to be employed for mechanical and equipment installation but the structure has allowed Kaiser to more effectively comply with seismic and emission regulations within Southern California not previously met by their existing facilities.
