Fullerton Community College Science Center

Fullerton College Science Building
Fullerton, California
Size: 65,000 square feet
Construction Cost: $30,000,000

The Fullerton College Science Building was one of twenty two significant capital projects funded through North Orange County Community College District’s Measure X. Approved by voters in March 2002, the bond provided $239 Million for the improvement and expansion of college and continuing education facilities at Fullerton College, Cypress College and a School of Continuing Education. The 66,000 SF science facility incorporates classrooms and laboratories for Physics, Biology, Astronomy and Marine Sciences around a teacher preparation core to maximize efficiency and flexibility. Steel frame construction with an exterior board-form plaster finish complements the historic circa 1939 campus context. The use of Building Information Modeling (BIM) across all major disciplines was an important tool for clash detection and field coordination and helped the project to be delivered on time and within budget.
