AOC North Butte County Courthouse
Size: 68,000 square feet
Construction Cost: $83.4M
The Butte County Courthouse is a modern two-story courthouse located in the Meriam Park Development of Chico, California. Located at the South end of the site, the 60,000 square foot project creates a strong urban edge facing onto a proposed public park across the street. The primary public circulation is located along the South elevation of the building providing views and access to daylight, which support the project’s public and waiting areas, as well as support spaces. The new facility will house five courtrooms, consolidating operations from two inadequate facilities—the current Chico Courthouse and the Paradise Courthouse. Completed in 2015 the courthouse is a dynamic reflection of Chico’s rich and unique culture and environment.
